5 Jackets for your Man

August 17th, 2011

The summer of 2011 is gone without so much of a hint of sunshine so the time to accept that you need to start picking out your mans’ winter coat or at least pushing him in the right direction of ones that you think he would like!

Here are our pick of this years top five styles of mens jackets UK:
The bomber jacket – the bomber jacket has been around for many years and has been reworked into many styles. This year’s style is the hooded leather jacket, taking away his need to stuff a hoodie inside a jacket and leave it there for months at a time. This is a rough and tumble way of looking smart, it is sporty but stylish, a leather jacket has to cost at least a little to look good so even dressed down with joggers and plimsolls, this can work well day or night, smart or casual. This easily works in to the biker look of 2011.

Next up we have the duffle jacket – also making waves in the world of women’s fashion, there is something utterly loveable about this Paddington Bear style. It says you don’t take yourself too seriously but that you do take your mum’s advice, keep warm through the winter! The duffle is adorable but can be as equally stylish as any other dressy coat.

The double breasted coat – for the smart guys out there, if you have a man that is generally suited and booted then the double breasted coat will work perfectly. It’s a classic that will never go out of fashion and can be devilishly handsome. Think Brad Pitt or David Beckham when they turn on the charm. This year the smart coat is popular in funnel form and it’s mid-length will suit most.

In keeping with the above jacket, a military style is also on the cards this year. The funnel or double breasted style can be incorporated into the military look but we thought it was worth a mention on its own as it has become as much as a classic as a trench coat.

Finally, the quilted jacket, a popular choice last year and set to stay in the mainstream throughout 2011. This preppy look is a winner and the quintessentially country look is not going anywhere just yet.
